Honey Garlic Pork Chops with Melted Cheddar
Yield: 4–6 servings · Prep Time: 10 minutes · Cook Time: 16 minutes
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs boneless pork chops
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- ½ tsp freshly cracked black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tbsp cornstarch (for light dredging)
- 2 tbsp avocado oil (or high-smoke-point cooking oil)
- 2 tbsp (6 tsp) high-quality raw honey
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
Instructions
- 01Preheat Oven & Prep Skillet: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Heat avocado oil in a large, oven-safe skillet over medium heat until shimmering.
- 02Season Pork Chops: Pat the pork chops dry with paper towels. Season both sides evenly with kosher salt, freshly cracked black pepper, and garlic powder.
- 03Dredge: Lightly dust both sides of each pork chop with cornstarch, shaking off any excess to ensure a thin, crisp coating.
- 04Sear: Place pork chops in the heated skillet without overcrowding. Sear for 3 minutes per side until a light golden crust develops.
- 05Glaze & Top: Drizzle 1 teaspoon of honey over each pork chop, spreading evenly. Top each chop generously with shredded cheddar cheese.
- 06Bake & Melt: Transfer skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 10 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C) and the cheese is fully melted and bubbly.
Notes
- Resting: Allow the pork chops to rest for 3 minutes before serving to retain juices.
- Internal Temp: For best results, use a digital meat thermometer to ensure pork reaches a safe internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
